Self-Directed Rage
„When we see some sect or party always speaking its words in anger, we have a sign that it has no wisdom, that it has no content with which to fill the emptiness within it, and it is truly angry at itself – except that egoism comes and compels it to cast the venom of its anger upon others.”
Anger is a sign of having lost one's way. When we are angry – especially one group at another – we in fact signal to one another and also to ourselves that we are not listening, but rather are full of ourselves and spewing out what is within us onto the other. In the early days of the State, it was Moshe Sneh who, on one side of the arguments in his speech, had written: "Weak argument, must raise the voice." And it is fitting that we remember these things for ourselves, and see how we can improve ourselves.
