„The illumination of holiness comes to make everything great and eternal: every conversation, every movement, every idea, every object, every enterprise, from the least to the greatest... And as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge, to recount all Your works.”From Shemonah Kevatzim, VII, 44
The divine light, the divine reality, transforms our world into one of meaning. Everything has a cause and an effect; every creation has something that drives it and something for whose sake it moves.
Later in the passage Rav Kook explains that the more a person dwells in the divine place, in holiness, the more he sees and feels this great light, the one complete reality unfolding in our world. And the further a person distances himself, the more this wondrous reality vanishes from his eyes.
The nearness of God is what grants supreme meaning to our wondrous world.
