Jerusalem Day

"Jerusalem Day" is also the day on which Rav Kook ascended to the Land of Israel. Today, 120 years ago, on the 28th of Iyar 5664, Rav Kook came up to the Land of Israel. Rav Kook's devotion to the Holy Land and his immense influence were critical to the settlement of the Land of Israel, to the deepening of the faith-based bond to the Land, and to the establishment of the State some 13 years after his passing. The Rav labored and did all he could to bring Jews up to the Land, and to unite the various groups in the Land of Israel from the beginning of the last century. In days when everything seemed in ruins, the Rav saw before his eyes the buds of redemption. His vision and his teaching contributed greatly to the beginning of the redemption.
